Home for Christmas: Hoover Home Tours is back Dec. 15 and 17 in The Preserve and Ross Bridge, for two charities. Homeowners there can still offer their homes.

Home for Christmas: Hoover Home Tours will return for a second year in December. This time the tour stays in two Hoover neighborhoods, The Preserve and Ross Bridge.

The tours run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, and Thursday, Dec. 17. The City of Hoover announced the dates in a news release on Wednesday.

Where the money goes

This year’s tour will benefit the Hoover City Schools Foundation and Magic Moments, the city said.

The first tour last December drew about 300 people over two evenings, the city said. It featured eight homes across Hoover and raised more than $25,000 for Hoover Helps and the Hoover City Schools Foundation.

Homeowners can still sign up

Stephanie Derzis, wife of Mayor Nick Derzis, organizes the event. The city said she is looking for homeowners in The Preserve and Ross Bridge who would open their homes to visitors.

Professional styling is not required. “Your home doesn’t have to look like something out of a magazine,” Derzis wrote in a Facebook post inviting homeowners to take part, according to the city.

The city’s release gives her email address for homeowners who want their home considered.
