Where it is
Inverness straddles the Hoover city line. When we sampled points across the area on the Hoover City Schools map, which follows the city limits, about half fell inside Hoover, in the Greystone Elementary zone, and the rest outside it. Of 852 parcels with Inverness in the subdivision name in the school system’s parcel layer (2023 county tax records), 839 are inside Hoover: 715 in Shelby County and 124 in Jefferson County. Many Inverness neighborhoods carry other names, so that count is not the whole community. Census ZIP code areas put Inverness in 35242, which uses a Birmingham mailing address; check the taxing jurisdiction on the Shelby County property tax pages.
The Inverness Masters Homeowners Association (invernesshomeowners.org) is on the city’s neighborhood associations list.
The comprehensive plan’s table of approved development counted 573 homes still to be built in Inverness as of March 30, 2019: 228 single-family homes, 102 townhouses and 243 apartments. The plan also says the City of Hoover owned and ran the sewer systems serving Inverness and Riverchase at the time; call My Hoover Connect, 205-739-7311, about a specific address.
